Chariti Mealing is a rising Junior at Columbia International University Where she majors in Digital Media and Cinema and minors in Media Arts. Chariti is the CEO of In Phocus Photography & Videography. She specializes in event, portrait, commercial, and landscape photography, and videography. Her newest venture, in response to Covid-19, is her "pop up photo studio." This allows clients to have a studio portrait while being outdoors. Her prices begin at $70 for all of her services.

 

Chariti started officially in the media industry in 2016 as a camera operator at Brookland Baptist Church. She has also been called upon to photograph events for Brookland. She is currently one of the Photographers for the Young CEO's of Tomorrow as well as the website and Facebook page manager. During her time as one of the YCEO's, she has worked on multimedia projects for the organization.

Giving honor to God, my parents, Eric and Nicole Berry, my little sister, Hannah, Mrs. Norma Brown, and the SC Commission of Minority Affairs… Thank you for thinking of me and bestowing upon me this honor as the 2021 Young Entrepreneur of the Year.  I was taken by surprise when I was told that I was selected for this honor. Growing up, I had no idea that I would be an entrepreneur.  I’ve always been creative.  I’ve studied ballet since I was three years old and danced on pointe at 10 years old.  I didn’t realize until I was older, that studying ballet for seven years taught me the discipline I would need to become a successful business owner. Now, as a junior at Dutch Fork High School, I have utilized the skills and discipline I’ve learned throughout the years to become a successful business owner.  I am the CEO of Simone’s Scrubs. When I was 12 years old, I tried to figure out what would be neat gifts to give my family members for Christmas.  My mom suggested that I make body scrubs. That Christmas, I gave my Grandmother, Great-grandmothers, and aunts my handmade body scrubs.  About 2 months after Christmas, my family members started calling to order more, and my mom suggested that I begin to sell them.  As a result, Simone’s Scrubs came to life.  I make all natural body scrubs in a variety of scents that exfoliate and soften the skin. I officially started my business in 2018 during Lynn Brown Inspires Young Entrepreneurship camp.  I learned how to create a SWOT analysis and figure out what my target market was.  I would have never imagined learning this at 14 years old. Without Mrs. Brown, I would have not discovered my love for entrepreneurship. Mrs. Brown  has inspired me to always chase my dreams and reach for the stars. Through her camp and organization, I have become more knowledgeable about starting a business, but I have also learned how to become a better version of myself. Although I am shy and quiet, she has always encouraged me to let my voice be heard​
